[Conférence internationale] Monitoring Freshwater Systems – From Earth Observation to Field Measurements
Date : Du 06/10/2026 au 07/10/2026Lieu : Université de Tours (Polytech Tours)

Organisé par Michael Nones et Stéphane Rodriguez
The concept of Earth Observation (EO) aims to analyze the atmosphere, land surfaces, and waters using terrestrial, airborne, and satellite remote sensing platforms. EO generates massive influxes of data documenting terrestrial and aquatic systems, leading to a paradigm shift in the observation and measurement of ecosystem dynamics at different spatiotemporal scales. The increased availability of data in this field is accompanied by the development of cutting-edge monitoring tools, often based on a combination of diverse remote sensing technologies and ground-based validation, providing innovative products that can be used for research, modeling, planning strategies, and decision-making. For the study of river systems, EO provides data spanning a broad disciplinary spectrum, from hydraulic processes to ecosystem monitoring.
This conference will focus on recent advances in the field of EO and field measurements of river systems. It will provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the art, address current scientific challenges and obstacles, and outline future developments related to the use of remote sensing data and its validation on the ground in the field of river science.
