[Webinaire Crossed perspectives #2] Regards croisés franco-américain sur les libertés académiques

La Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Val de Loire a le plaisir d’organiser, en partenariat avec des chercheurs de Ohio State University (États-Unis), un webinaire intitulé “Regards croisés franco-américain sur les libertés académiques”. Cet évènement fait partie d’un cycle conjoint organisé par la MSH Mondes, la MSH Lorraine et la MSH Val de Loire : Humanities and social science in the USA and France : crossed perspectives.

The Maison des Sciences de l’Homme Val de Loire is pleased to organize, in partnership with researchers from Ohio State University (USA), a webinar entitled “Franco-American perspectives on academic freedom”. This event is part of a joint cycle organized by MSH Mondes, MSH Lorraine and MSH Val de Loire: “Humanities and social science in the USA and France: crossed perspectives”.

Les attaques récentes aux Etats-Unis (USA) en particulier contre les libertés académiques et le financement de la recherche scientifique, inquiètent la communauté scientifique américaine mais aussi du monde entier. Ce webinaire permettra de présenter le système académique décentralisé existant aux États-Unis et les différentes modalités de financement de la recherche actuels.  Les intervenants reviendront ensuite sur la situation actuelle aux USA et dans l’Ohio en particulier. L’expertise de chacun permettra d’aborder les sujets ciblés par ces attaques, les enjeux, les conséquences et les stratégies possibles pour résister.

Recent attacks in the United States (USA), particularly on academic freedom and the funding of scientific research, are causing concern not only in the American scientific community, but worldwide. This webinar will present the decentralized academic system in the USA and the different ways in which research is currently funded. The speakers will then review the current situation in the USA and Ohio in particular. Each speaker’s expertise will be brought to bear on the subjects targeted by these attacks, the issues at stake, the consequences and possible strategies for resistance.
